Day 14: The Yakel Tribe of Tanna
1: Drove through the jungle to visit the Yakel tribe.
2: We were welcomed with flower necklaces and a friendly member of the tribe to walk us in.
Saw kids playing games, women making food & weaving. We tried two favorite local food plates - Tapioca roasted with coconut & Taro root with coconut on top.
3: The families presented their hand made crafts in their local market. The money helps to send to one child from each family to school to learn English & one to learn French.
4: Then they displayed their traditional dances to welcome us and to say goodbye.
I-mum-ya - good bye
Lu -Haw - hello & thank you
